Promoting Pet Adoptions and Welfare in Sulphur Springs
Our Mission:
PPAWSS is a group of local, concerned animal lovers that would like to make a difference in our community by lowering the number of dogs and cats euthanized needlessly.
One mission is to continue to help local Euthanizing Shelters
(including but not limited to: Sulphur Springs, Commerce, and Greenville)
increase adoptions and lower the number of adoptable pets being euthanized by rescuing when possible and increasing the awareness of Adoption.
We will continue to work with the Hopkins County Animal Protection League and continue to inform the community about the urgency of spaying and neutering pets.
Our long term goal is to build a shelter and we will be able to rescue even more dogs and cats scheduled to be euthanized at local shelters.
However, we will not embark on this mission until we are prepared.
The HSUS estimates that 3 to 4 million dogs and cats are euthanized at shelters each year.
As animal lovers, this has alarmed us and pushed us to take action.

October is Adopt a Dog Month!
PPAWSS is celebrating Adopt a Dog Month!
We would like to offer you an incentive to adopt a dog this month:
If you Adopt a Dog in the month of October from PPAWSS, We will microchip all of the other dogs in your household for only $10!!*
If you show proof that you adopted a dog from the Sulphur Springs Shelter within the month of October, we will Microchip him/her for only $15!!*

Cold Weather is approaching fast.
Come see us at Barktoberfest at
L3 in Greenville on October 18!
PPAWSS will be hosting an Adoption from 10:30-1 pm.
Come see our Adoptable Pets!
We will have Tshirts available for sale for $10!
Participation is FREE so bring your family out and come join in on the fun!!!!
The event will be held on the L-3 Barking Lot (far South End of the Field, beside Bldg 210).
The first 120 dogs get a free toy and the first 250 people get a free Hot Dog meal!
Prizes will be awarded for the following categories with dog costumes: Cutest, Scariest, Funniest, Most Original/Creative, Patriotic Pooch, Athletic, Most Colorful, Best Combo (owner and pet).
Prizes will be awarded for the following categories with or without costumes: Tallest dog, shortest dog, longest ears, ugliest dog, fastest tail, best barker (on command), oddest couple (2 dogs), and Owner / Dog look alike.
PPAWSS is requesting donations of new and used dog houses to be distributed to low income families in Hopkins County.

More families bring pets into their homes during the holidays than at any other time of year. What better gift can any of us give during the holiday season than to give a home to an orphaned animal? Nobody wants to think about an orphaned waking up behind bars on a holiday morning. In the past some shelters have discouraged families from adopting pets during the holidays, forcing them to support the puppy mill industry. Iams Home 4 the Holidays shelters work together to match the needs of the pets with the desires of the families. Everybody wins!
